How it works
No call, no deposit, no surprises.
A few questions about the business, a free report on the site you have today (or straight to the mock if you don’t have one), and a mock of the one you could have, in about a week. You only pay if you want to keep it. And because the process doesn’t stop at the yes, neither does this page. The conversation, the build, going live, and the months after are all below.
Step one
You answer the survey questions
A handful of questions about the business. What it does, how customers usually reach you, what you’d want a site to say for you. About four minutes, none of it technical. No account, no card, no call.
The first question is whether you have a website today, because that decides what happens next.
If you do, you give me the address. I read the public pages the same way any visitor’s browser would. I never ask for logins, never sign in, never change anything. Your site won’t know I was there.
If you don’t, there’s nothing to read, so there’s no report. You go straight to the mock, and you lose nothing on the way there, because the mock is drawn from your answers, not from the old site.
The answers are the part worth slowing down for. They’re what your mock gets drawn from.
Step two
If you have a site, I read it and write you a report
The report does two jobs. First, a plain read-back of what’s actually on your pages, so you can see it really is your site I looked at. Second, an honest measurement of how findable you are: in search, and to the AI assistants people ask instead of searching now. Where something needs doing, it says so in a sentence you can act on.
The way it measures is my own, the Kirrby way of looking at a site, not an industry certificate. It’s version one, and it says so. I’m still working out the kinks, so if something in your report looks wrong, tell me and I’ll go and look.
It’s also the start of something longer. The fuller reading of your numbers that Care and Growth clients will have delivered to them is in development, and founders get it first. The free report is the first issue of it.
It arrives three ways: readable in your account, shareable as a link that needs no sign-in, and downloadable. Send it to your business partner. Send it to your current provider, if you’re feeling generous.
Started without a site? This step simply doesn’t happen, and your mock arrives the same way as everyone else’s.
Step three
You see your mock
About a week. A real page at a Kirrby address, built around your business and your words, that you can click around and show to somebody. Not a picture of a website. A page.
It’s drawn from what you told me in the survey, so that’s the part worth taking your time over. Say what you actually want, not what you think is realistic.
It won’t be the finished article, and I may not get everything right the first time. That’s what the working relationship is for. The mock is where it starts, not where it stops.
Your mock stays up for seven days. Sit with it, show it to whoever else has a say, click every page. It stays a preview the whole time; it isn’t handed over or connected to anything. If the week runs out and you still want it, tell me and it goes back up.
Step four
You decide
If it’s a no, nothing happens. Nothing is owed, nothing needs cancelling, and nobody calls to ask why.
If it’s a yes, everything below this line opens up. And it’s worth saying plainly: you never needed to get on a call to reach this point. Not for the survey, not for the report, not for the mock. The talking starts after you’ve decided, because that’s when there are real things worth saying out loud.
Founder seats
Why there are only five at this price
Kirrby Studio is new. I’d rather start with a small number of businesses I can genuinely look after than a long list I can’t, so the first five on each plan get the founder price. It doesn’t go up. Not held for a year and then reviewed. It stays where it is for as long as you stay with me. The founder price is the price with a code, which I hand out in the places I post rather than printing it here.
Founders also get 25% off anything the studio releases later, and while the seats are open you can move between plans: pay the build difference to get set up on the new one, and move to its monthly price. There’s no countdown and no timer. When the seats on a plan are held, that price is simply gone from it.
Founder seats open
- Steady5 seats at the founder price on Steady
- Care5 seats at the founder price on Care
- Growth5 seats at the founder price on Growth
A founder seat holds the price with a code. Once a seat is held, that price is gone from that plan. It never rises for the people holding it.
The prices themselves, and what each plan carries, are on Pricing.
The one conversation
One conversation, about ninety minutes, free
This is the only call it takes to get to a yes, and it happens after you’ve already decided. I cover what your business actually does, how you want the site to feel, and anything that needs connecting to it: booking, calendar, payments, whatever you already run. If it can be linked, I link it, and the accounts stay yours.
If you’d rather talk sooner, before the mock or before the yes, that’s allowed. It’s just never required.
The build
Up to thirty days of edits, and you see it as it goes
Kirrby Studio gives you up to thirty days from that conversation, with up to three major revisions along the way, each confirmed by email as it’s used, and a touch-base every week if you want one. You’re never left wondering where things stand.
If you don’t need the thirty days, the site goes up sooner.
*A major revision changes how the site works: which pages there are, how it’s laid out, where the menu lives. Once that’s settled, swapping words and pictures isn’t a revision. That’s just finishing.
Going live
It goes live on your domain, and it’s yours
The site launches on your own domain, and your first month starts when it goes live, or at the thirty-day mark, whichever comes first. Never during the survey. The plans themselves are laid out on Pricing.
Once your build fee has cleared, the site is yours, and it remains yours. If you ever leave, you take it and everything on it: the pages, the words, the images, the domain that was always in your name. What stays with Kirrby Studio is the system underneath and the reusable pieces I build with. There’s a fuller answer to what leaving looks like on the FAQ.
Month one, month three, month twelve
What the months after actually hold
This is the part most studios don’t have an answer for, so here is mine.
Month one. You’re in your own back end, changing your hours, prices, photos and the words on a page, live the moment you save. Two generators are built in: one for images, one for copy that’s written to be found, in search and by the AI assistants people ask. The everyday small stuff never has to wait for me, because you hold the controls.
Month three. Depending on your plan, your first sit-down may have come round: once a year on Steady, every quarter on Care, every month on Growth. You bring everything you’ve been saving up since the last one, because the business has moved, and I work through it with you. Copy written, images made, design done, not a text swap. Phone, video or email, whichever suits you.
Not everyone uses all of them, and that’s fine. What you’re buying is the safety net of not having to do it yourself. Maybe your first seasonal change has landed too: a real redesign for a season you picked, two a year on Steady, four on Care and Growth, and the site goes back to how it was when the season ends.
Month twelve. The site still says what’s true, because I was looking at it all year. Anything broken, or wrong in something I made, got fixed once I found it or you told me, whether or not you’d noticed. I made every effort to be there Monday to Friday, excluding US federal holidays, and told you before I was away. And whenever you got in touch, I told you whether you were getting “looked at” or “finished,” because those are different things.
A few things run alongside all of this. Your numbers sit in your back end on every plan, there whenever you look. On Care, a fuller read of them comes to you, and on Growth they come back already read, with recommendations; that delivery is in development, and founders get it first. Growth’s monthly sit-down is genuinely optional, there when you want it and silent when you don’t.
And, what I am personally excited about, Care and Growth get early access to the studio apps I’m testing: ad generation for social media, deck design for presentations, competitor insights, and more. Free while they’re in beta, and what you make on them stays yours. The full detail sits with the plans on Pricing.
Where the line sits
One honest boundary before the prices.
Kirrby Studio doesn’t manage inventory or day-to-day operations, doesn’t run the platforms you bring (connecting them to the site is my part, running them stays yours), and designs websites, not applications. The full version of where the line sits is on Pricing, and it’s worth the two minutes before you pick a plan.
So what does it cost?
You’ve just read what a year with Kirrby Studio looks like, so the natural next question is pricing.
If you’d rather see something than read more, the mock is still free, and it’s still the easy part.
